My Approach
Through a soulful approach, our work together might give subtle attention to hunches, dreams, intuitions, creativity, yearnings, what feels mysterious to you, alongside what feels ‘unsayable’ and ‘unfeelable’ and may be unconscious to you.
Together, we might consider potential meaning in your challenges, wounding and suffering as soul cries calling for attention, rather than seeking quick fix solutions to remedy and transcend pain. Our explorations might occur through the wisdom of imaginal, creative, symbolic and physical body-oriented processes, rather than being reliant on rationality and conscious minds. We might also give space to joy, making space for laughter and all the aspects of life that light you up. As a way of regulating the capacity to stay connected with what may feel unbearable, with compassion, we might consciously titrate the intensity: this is to be distinguished from bypassing as an (often) necessary defence against staying with what ails.
In partnership, we might attend to your early years, what is presenting in the here and now, your relationship to the natural and wider world, your longings, callings and dreams. Life’s big questions, uncertainty, everyday humdrums and sorrows might be explored. Wounding often happens in relationship and we might give attention to both the (re-constellated) wounding and (potentially) healing relational dynamics that might be evoked through our therapeutic relationship.
An inclusive, heart-centered practice
I recognise the challenge of unapologetically embracing and reclaiming parts of identity that you might have had to be silent about, feared, felt ashamed of and disowned, alongside celebrating aspects of identity that you are proud of or might not give attention to. Perhaps your soul whispers your move beyond the margins of your life to explore living at its centre, with a more self-assured, grounded, powerful self that aligns with your core values and honours the various identities (which may not be fixed) of who you may be. How might our working together offer you space to explore your self-permission to live whatever a more liberated life means to you, now?
Experiences of racism, colourism, shadism, sexism, ageism, and discrimination around disability, classism, xenophobia, transphobia, biphobia, homophobia or other oppressions can be traumatic and present as aspects of your journey that we might attend to. I warmly welcome clients who present with diverse cultural, gender, sexuality and relationship expressions. I welcome non-binary individuals and those who prefer not to use labels to define multiple identities. Your sexuality, gender and relationship diversity may not present as the primary reason to come to my practice and I recognise your autonomy for it not to be a focus, though it may be worthy of consideration.
You are invited to bring your full self, which may or may not include your faith, religion, spiritual practices, legal lifestyle choices and political persuasions. In a safe environment, we might explore their meaning for you and how they intersect with other aspects of your life.
